Russ and I often felt like nomads, having moved 13 times during the first 25 years of marriage. Locations included Maryland, California, Virginia, and then numerous cities in Michigan. Our 13th move landed us back in Jackson, MI, for the third time, where we lived for 11 years, the longest we lived anywhere. From there, we retired and moved back to California, staying almost three years, before moving to the Birmingham, Alabama, area.

Belinda (Lindy) attended Grace College in Winona Lake, IN, and taught for one year in Hawaii. She now lives in Fountain Valley, CA, and has taught 1st grade for the last 8 years at Mariners Christian School. She married a native Californian, who has his own computer business.
Our son,Paul, attended college on basketball scholarships, first at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, and then transferred to Birmingham Southern College, in Birmingham, AL. After graduation, he stayed with the school for one year as an assistant basketball coach, the year they won the NAIA championship! He still lives in Birmingham, AL, and now has his own moving business, called
"People Movers." Those of you familiar with Detroit, will recognize that as the name of the el there. He married a true "Southern Belle" from Nashville. They have one son and two daughters
Infomation about grandchildren:
Our grandson's name is Deaton Russell, and is called "D.R." He was born January 18, 2001. The oldest grandaughter's name is Madelinde Elizabeth and is called "Lindy," after our daughter. She was born October 2, 2002. The "baby" is Lillie Marie, who was born November 25, 2003.
I am presently retired, but do occasional consulting work for physicians regarding required compliance plans.
I attended Hurley School of Nursing in Flint, MI, and practiced nursing in almost every field available, including returning to Hurley as a clinical instructor for ER and ICU. My last 10 years of employment were affiliated with Sparrow Health System in Lansing, MI. I was asked to establish a medical audit program as an outside contractor, which later was brought internal. I then had the privilege of a very unique position for an R.N. as a Compliance Auditor in the Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance Department. My last 6 months there I was asked to fill the new position of Compliance Education Specialist and develop a compliance education program for approximately 3000 physicians that were either employees of Sparrow Health System or had practicing rights. It was a very interesting and challenging endeavor, and I learned more about computer systems than I ever thought I would need to know in a life time, especially for an R.N!
Most of Russ and my travels involved trips to visit our children, but we also have visited many of the States of the USA. I never cease to be amazed at how different they are, each with its own beauty, and how fortunate we are to live in this country!
Interests, hobbies, and pastimes:
Reading has always been an interest/hobby of mine and continues to be. However, my passion is sewing. Before retirement I purchased a computerized sewing machine with the capability to do embroidery and am immensely enjoying having time to use it frequently.
The greatest accomplishment has to be the raising of our children to be happy, successful, caring individuals, that love the Lord Jesus Christ and are living their lives to display that.
Favorite memory of MHS:
I thoroughly enjoyed my years at MHS and have too many good memories to list.
Momento to remind you of 1962:
Like everyone else, my yearbook with all of the writings in it from classmates.
Biggest lesson learned:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
Closest friends in 1962:
Joan Everson was my best friend throughout high school and we have stayed in close, frequent contact since graduation.
